Monophorosis
... is a drawing-led research practice by Ephraim Joris, an architect, researcher, and educator whose interdisciplinary work explores the entanglements of life, death, and architectural form. Through his research and teaching at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, his work bridges architectural theory and artistic practice, focusing on the body as a site of architectural inquiry. Previously, he co-founded and directed an architecture practice specialising in renovation and restoration. He has taught at universities including KU Leuven, RMIT University, and Westminster University. Ephraim holds a PhD by practice in architecture and design from RMIT and a master’s in education, and his work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
